The ball will start rolling in Fortaleza on January 26, 2025. The capital of Ceará will host
the opening of the Liga Metropolitana Fortaleza, a new regular amateur football
tournament set to run until March 6, 2026.
The competition will bring together 12 local teams and will be played at the private sports
facilities of Olimpio Centro Esportivo Ltda., officially becoming part of the regional sports
calendar. All matches will be held at night, ensuring stable playing conditions, better
organization and comfort for players and staff.
The format includes a full group stage with home-and-away matches, followed by
decisive playoffs. The tournament is organized in accordance with federal legislation,
STJD regulations, the Laws of the Game of the CBF, the Ceará State Football
Federation (FCF) and, where not expressly regulated, the FCF General Competition
Regulations 2025, the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice (CBJD) and the IFAB Laws of
the Game.
According to the organizers, the project aims to strengthen amateur and
semi-professional football, help recently professional players maintain competitive rhythm
and deliver a transparent competition, supported by a modern media and monitoring
infrastructure.
